Income from what you already own

If you hold 100 or more shares of a stock, you can sell a call against it and collect a premium. Waiting to buy a stock lower? Sell a cash-secured put and get paid while you wait. StockTheta does the searching for both.

  1. Add your holdings

Ticker, number of shares and what you paid. Nothing connects to your broker.

  2. We price the calls

For each holding, a call above today's price and never below your cost, with the premium and the chance it gets exercised.

  3. You place the trade

Copy the order to your own broker, or don't. You see an estimated monthly total across everything you own.

Rules we hold ourselves to

  • We never suggest a call below what you paid, so being exercised can't lock in a loss.
  • We show the downside. A covered call caps your upside and keeps all of the stock's risk.
  • We skip puts that expire after an earnings report, and only plan puts your cash can cover. A put can still leave you owning a stock that keeps falling.
  • We publish what changed. If the list hasn't moved, we say so instead of repeating it.
  • We never touch your money. StockTheta can't place trades or see your brokerage account.

Questions

Does StockTheta place trades for me?

No. StockTheta is research. You place any trade yourself, at whatever broker you use.

Which brokers does it work with?

Any broker that offers options. You type in your holdings; nothing is linked.

How have the setups done?

Every daily setup is graded automatically: bought at the next open, sold at its stop, its target, or after 20 trading days. The results, wins and losses, are on the Today page from the day each setup is published. So far, roughly half have reached their target, and each winner is planned to be bigger than each loser. That can change, and losing streaks happen.

When are new ideas published?

Every weekday evening, after the US market closes, so they are ready before the next open.

Is this financial advice?

No. StockTheta publishes rules-based research and education for self-directed investors. It doesn't know your full situation, and ideas can be wrong.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time from your account page. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
